To start using the WeGive4SF integration, you’ll need to install our managed Salesforce package. Follow the instructions below based on the type of Salesforce org you’re using.

Prerequisites

Before installing the WeGive4SF package, ensure you have the following: Required User Access:
  • You must be logged in as a System Administrator in Salesforce to install the package
  • After installation, the user connecting WeGive to Salesforce must be a System Administrator with the WeGive Admin Permission Set assigned to their profile
Important: Without System Administrator access, you’ll receive an “Insufficient Privileges” error during installation. If you don’t have admin access, contact your Salesforce administrator to complete the installation and assign the necessary WeGive Admin Permission Set. Depending on your environment, use the correct installation URL below: Sandbox & Scratch Orgs: https://test.salesforce.com/packaging/installPackage.apexp?p0=04tak0000009PQbAAM Production & Developer Edition Orgs: https://login.salesforce.com/packaging/installPackage.apexp?p0=04tak0000009PQbAAM Tip: Make sure you’re logged into the appropriate Salesforce org before clicking the link.

Step 2: Verify Admin-Level Access

You must be logged in as a System Administrator to install the package. If you see this error: “This package can’t be installed. Insufficient Privileges.” The logged-in user doesn’t have the required permissions. You’ll need to either:
  • Switch to a System Administrator profile, or
  • Ask your Salesforce admin to complete the installation for you

Step 3: Complete the Installation

Once you’re in the correct org and have the appropriate access:
  1. Click the installation link
  2. Choose All Users for the users who should have access
  3. View Package Components under Additional Details
  4. Confirm and approve any third-party access prompts
  5. Click Install
Note: The installation may take a few minutes. Once installed, you’ll see the WeGive4SF package listed in your Installed Packages.

Step 4: Assign WeGive Admin Permission Set

After the package is successfully installed:
  1. Navigate to Setup > Users in Salesforce
  2. Select the user(s) who will be connecting WeGive to Salesforce
  3. Verify the user has a System Administrator profile
  4. Assign the WeGive Admin Permission Set to these users
  5. Save your changes
Warning: The integrated user must be a System Administrator with the WeGive Admin Permission Set assigned. Without both requirements, users won’t be able to properly integrate or use the WeGive4SF functionality.

Troubleshooting

Insufficient Privileges Error

Confirm you’re using a System Administrator profile. Only System Administrators can install managed packages in Salesforce.

Package Not Found

Double-check that you’re in the right environment (sandbox vs. production) and using the correct installation URL.

Installation Stuck or Taking Too Long

Wait a few minutes and refresh your installed packages list. Large package installations can take 5-10 minutes.

Integration Issues After Installation

Verify that the WeGive Admin Permission Set has been assigned to the connecting user AND that the user has a System Administrator profile. Both are required for the integration to function properly.
